AY Papi’s Puerto Rican Cuisine

I think I would eat at their food truck again in the future. I came across this food truck at an event near the dominion. If the food off the truck is this good I can't wait to eat at their restaurant! This mother son team is giving foodies the delicious opportunity to indulge in Puerto Rican fusion cuisine, influenced by Japanese preparation methods to create flavors all their own. Wasn't sure what to expect when I saw the truck outside of ArtPace before the recent jazz concert but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I decided to play it safe and tried the beef empanadas, and fried plantains. I was very impressed and would definitely go out of my way to come back and eat here again.

. I loved the taste and how crispy the fries were. Like a traditional Japanese style roll, only better, because this one's infused with all the flavors of Puerto Rico. The chicken empanada was delicious but I wish it had more chicken. Find 'em cruising in Dallas, or have 'em out to cater your next event. I highly recommend eating here. Makes this New York native proud!!! Not to mention their succulent pork shoulder sammie on a traditional bolillo roll.

Ate at their food truck when I went to Dorcol's bar. They were at The Gents Place for their grand opening. I tried the chicken empanada and fries. The bread had a delicate crunch and the flavors of the pork, ham, and other ingredients came together to create such a rich and delicious overall flavor. More than anything, the people that work there are the best! I've had Puerto Rican cuisine in several sit down restaurants and they couldn't compare to the quality of food that Ay Papi's has.

The empanadas were filled generously with ground beef, and the sauce that came with it was awesome. The fried plantains needed a little more flavor, but I just dipped them in the sauce for the empanadas and they were good. We didn't go to their brick and mortar location. . So we found out from their Facebook page where they would be, and tracked them down. From there, it's blanketed with sushi rice rolled in chicharrones, topped with their signature aioli sauce.

I have never tried Puerto Rican food before, so I had no idea what to expect. Talked with the guys in the truck for a second. They gave us another dipping sauce but I'm not sure if was for the empanada or the plantains but it had too strong a flavor of vinegar, but this won't stop me from coming back and trying something else. So nice and helpful, they explained just about everything they have on their menu so we knew exactly what it was. Just from the customer service standpoint, I will go back! There's a whole lot to pig out on at Ay Papito, so why wait? My wife and I shared the beef empanadas and the tripleta sandwich and both were just to die for. The cooks were both very pleasant and the food was outstanding. It had a bit too much dough for my liking.
