This is definitely a dive! Bourbon is not Bourbon unless the label says so. Don't miss the confections at local chain Federal Donuts, which serves up flavors like strawberry-lavender, carrot cake, and key lime pie. Most Canadian whiskies are blended multi-grain whiskies and are usually lighter and smoother than other whiskey styles. The spicy pork sausage was fine, but sausage usually isn't my go-to barbecue item anyway. But the prices are jaw dropping and the meat is pretty dry. It was just your ordinary chicken drumstick dish, slightly spicy.

This time I tried a variety of meats including wings, sausage, brisket and ribs: the sausage and brisket were very dry. The brisket was also decently flavorful and not too fatty. The pork and brisket were tender and juicy. Although rye is often a primary component in Canadian whiskies, the use of rye is not dictated by law. The beans and ribs were the best things on the plate, the meat literally slid off the bone. Pork belly and brisket weren't tough, but were cold.

We came on a weekday around 6 p. I was worried about this being very crowded having come on Saturday at 6:30pm but was able to easily get a spot for 4. Nice location, tucked into a little alley which they use as their outdoor patio. I didn't care for the food presentation sitting in oil. Fette Sau: literal translation is fat pig, but it has a more unflattering and mischievous meaning in German. The potato salad was good and the cornbread decent.

I'm so happily full from this place. We had the pulled pork and the smoked wings and a bunch of beers for lunch on a weekend. And they give you a lot. The smoked old fashioned is also surprisingly high quality cocktail, and pairs well with all that fatty meat. The yellow and brown sauce mixed and the red and dark red sauces mixed were tasty.

We also had the lemonade which was strong and got the job done. I won't say I would voluntarily go again. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich. All the traditional barbeque cuts are served along with plenty of not-so-traditional things like beef tongue pastrami, pork belly, and veal heart. So for whatever reason mostly geography , it's been probably a decade since I'd been to Fette Sau. It's got meat in it and the sauce is nice and tangy better than the other sauces out on the tables.

They served the ends of the brisket to us. The selections of meats are good. Ribs were not fall off the bone and rather dry. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. The ribs were my favorite part of the meal.
